The Civil War Flags exhibit captured my attention when we first initially visited the New Jersey State Museum. I have spent the past month designing a new website to display the many different flags along with their the title, the regiment it belonged too, and the year it was created. I have also included a page for the Museum staff to add other flags in their collection. I also plan on using NFC tags to keep track of all the flags, and also link to each flag and it’s detailed information when scanned.

The Flag exhibit was really cool, it had some really amazing history around it. I feel the current website is doing a poor job of showing all this exhibit has to offer, and the history surrounding it.
NFC (near field communication) is the use of is a set of short-range wireless technologies, typically requiring a distance of 4cm or less to initiate a connection. NFC allows you to share small payloads of data between an NFC tag and an Android-powered device, or between two Android-powered devices (android).
My project is going to be an application that is going to describe and break down the phonogram into parts. It will start with the phonogram on the outside and then work your way in as you click around the app…
My project will be an interactive slideshow and timeline about Nipper, the Victor Talking Machine Company logo, other advertising conventions from the time period, and how these advertising methods changed over time. I want to add an extra layer of context to the existing Victrola and phonograph in the Pretty Big Things Collection by putting this interactive slideshow on a tablet in a cabinet. This way, visitors can go through the show at their own pace using a natural user interface.
